PyramidNet is a facilities based provider of Internet services. The Network Operations
Center (NOC) houses an OC-12 rack with direct fiber optic termination facilities. The
OC-12 is connected directly to the Internet backbone via multiple and redundant
T-3(45Mbps) lines. Network circuits are provisioned on separate local carriers and utilize
a 100Mbps Ethernet backbone. These carriers use the latest SONET, FDDI and ATM technology
for the highest level of availability and redundancy.
Network circuits are connected to multiple Cisco 7206 routers. The routers utilize Cisco
BGP4 routing for diversity and network load balancing. These routers are connected to
Redundant Cisco Catalyst 5000 (100 MB) switches that carry all IP traffic to the web
servers. All network facilities are protected by multiple line conditioners / surge
protectors and backed up by both UPS and multiple 30,000 watt diesel generators. Robotic
tape backups are performed daily and stored offsite.
